Questions from the Korean students

Thank you so much for your presentations!  My students enjoyed watching them!

So...they have several questions about Florida, your school, and culture.

Here they are in no particular order...


1) Fried chicken is very popular in Korea.  Is it popular in America?  What fried chicken

Restaurants are popular in Korea?

KFC, Bojangles', and Popeyes are popular fried chicken places. – Julia F.

2) Someone told me that Starbucks is cheaper in the United States than in Korea.  How much are most drinks at Starbucks in the United States.

Starbucks drinks in America are $3-$7 (in U.S. dollars). – Annie F.

3) How often do you visit theme parks since you live near several of them?

Disney and Universal are the more popular theme parks.  I visit the theme parks once or twice a year. But there are many parks, so I don’t get to go to all of them often. – Aurora D.

4) I like BBQ Lay's chips.  What flavor(s) of Lay's are popular in the United States?

There are so many different kinds. Some favorites in the United States are Salt and Vinegar, Original, Barbecue, Sour Cream and Onion. I new one that many people like is Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese.– Ashley F.

5)  Before you worked on this project, did you know anything about Korea?

I did not know anything about Korea. Thank you for sharing your culture with me. –Mira-Sophie E.

6) What jobs do people in the United States want?

Acting, singing, helping, people (doctor, dentist) are well liked jobs in the United States. – Camila V.

7) What universities are famous in the United States?

Some famous universities are Harvard, Florida State University (FSU), and University of Central Florida (UCF). –Alvin Z.

8) Are students allowed to date at your school?

Yes, students are allowed to date at our school. – Ciara F.

9) What do you want to be when you are older (as a career)?

I want to have a career in a field of science. For example, chemistry, astronomy, or paleontology. – Luka V.

10)  Do people listen to K-Pop at all in the United States?

Some people do listen to K-Pop in America, but not many. – Aleena O.

11) What did you think of our presentations?

They were beautiful and filled with excitement. The presentations were very entertaining. Also, your English was amazing! – Audrey C.

12) After watching our presentations, where in Korea would you want to visit?

I would like to visit Jeju Island and Lotteria. (Yum!) –Jackson C.

13) How much does it cost to visit Disney World?

A one day and one park pass is $100 (United States dollars) per ticket. – Will C.

14) How often do you get to visit Disney?

I visit Disney once or twice a year if I don’t have an annual pass. When I have an annual pass, I visit almost every weekend. – Naomi F.

15) What clothing brands are popular in the United States and at your school?

Hollister, Aeropostale, and Nike are all popular brands of clothing at our school. – Naomi F.

16) What kinds of parties do you have in the United States?

We have birthday parties, Christmas celebrations, and parties on New Year’s, school get-togethers and dances. – Paige C.

17) How much is a Butterfinger bar in the United States?  They aren't common here.

For a classic 2.1 (United States ounces) bar it is about $1.29 (United States dollars). – Dylan J.

18) Have you ever eaten Korean food?  If so, what Korean foods do you like?

Yes, Bulgogi and Kimchi. It was very tasty. – Aleena O.

19) Who are some popular TV actors in the United States?

Steve Harvey, Sofia Vergara, Steve Carrel, Kaley Cuoco, and Charlie Sheen are all popular TV actors and actresses. –Ciara F.

20) What is your favorite hamburger restaurant?

Ruby Tuesday is my favorite hamburger restaurant. Some other hamburger places are Steak & Shake, Five Guys, and Burger King. – Nicole V.

  3. Great job answering the questions guys! Do you have any for us? My students are on vacation until March so take your time coming up with some.

    Cicely, there are many westerners that are fans of K-pop here as well. I know one girl that goes to concerts almost every weekend here.
